On the occasion of the seventh annual IFAR Summit, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) hosted 46 participants from 18 member organizations at Lotte City Hotel, located in Daejeon, South Korea from 27 to 29 September 2016.
IFAR Chair Fumikazu Itoh of JAXA welcomed the participants and thanked KARI for hosting the summit.
On September 29th, IFAR took part in the 30th ICAS Congress by giving a presentation on air traffic management (ATM) related global challenges and provided a status of IFAR’s ATM Working Group activities.
After the presentations, Joachim Szodruch, founder of IFAR, facilitated the announcement of the first-ever ICAS-IFAR Award winner. The ICAS-IFAR Award, a certificate and a plaque sponsored by JAXA, was handed over by Dr. Itoh and ICAS President, Christian Mari to the 2016 award winner William Leser (NASA).
Eleven young researchers from nine member organizations participated in the YRC 2016, which was organized in parallel to the summit and hosted by KARI.
